First (and most important) are our holiday hours. The practice will be closed Mondays December 26th and January 2nd. Otherwise we will be open weekdays over the holidays, although sometimes with shortened hours, so call before coming.
We have been spending a tremendous amount of time taking care of administrative tasks recently, with our focus being refill requests. So when I recently read an article in a medical journal about this subject, I decided it was time to have a formal written refill policy. We would like to continue to give you the best medical care possible; hopefully everyone will benefit from this new policy.
Finally, if you are looking for a special gift for that special someone (or for yourself) we have a list of suggestions below. And to make things even easier, we have put them on special!
To your good health!

PS: As always, please feel free to forward this newsletter to your friends and colleagues. Even if they are not my patients, I'd be happy to have them as subscribers. Just click the "foward email" button at the bottom of the newsletter.
Please remember that this newsletter contains general medical information, but not medical advice. Please see me, or your regular doctor (if it is not me) to discuss these medical issues prior to acting on them.
| Prescription "Refill" Policy |
|
First a clarification. - prescription refills are supplied by pharmacists. When a patient calls our office and asks for a "refill" they are really asking us to issue a new prescription. The difference is important, as issuing a new prescription requires an evaluation that cannot be done over the phone by a receptionist.
Dr. Moghissi, Kristin and Misty issue enough refills on a prescription to last the patient until the next office visit. Prescription medications are only available by prescription for a reason; the federal government has determined that those medications need to be issued and monitored by a medical professional. It is not good medical care to continue to issue prescriptions without monitoring the patient.
FYI I will be writing up a much simplified version with just the bullet points and it will be hung up in all the exam rooms. The purpose of this is to explain not only what we are doing but why.

About Dr. Jasmine Moghissi
Welcome to my family medical practice! We are
delighted to be here in the Vienna/Fairfax area,
which is where I live with my own family.
I treat people of all ages, and all conditions. My
philosophy is to treat the whole person, and the whole
family. As a family physician, I am trained to meet the
health care needs of the entire family regardless of
age, sex, or the nature of the illness. I am comfortable
treating newborns, children, adults and the elderly. I
perform routine physicals (including GYN exams),
along
with treating acute and chronic illnesses; however, I
do not deliver babies.
In our practice, we treat all illnesses, but I do have
some special interests and areas of expertise. I am
an
advocate of breastfeeding, and have assisted many
moms and babies in becoming successful at it. I
enjoy
pediatrics and use my own experience as a mom to
help my patients. I have extensive experience in
women's health issues, and special interests in the
prevention, treatment, and early diagnosis of diabetes
and heart disease. I am honored that many
specialists
in the area routinely refer their patients to me for
treatment of their medical and psychiatric problems. If
you are looking for a partner in your family's quest for
a healthy life, I would love to be your family doctor.
