I have lots to report this newsletter!  Please join me in welcoming Hanh Tran, PA to the practice.  She is a physician’s assistant, and can see patients independently, but under supervision.  She has been working in family practice locally since 2003, most recently for an FP in Fairfax, Dr. Jean Drew.  Hanh came very highly recommended, and has been with me for the past month.  I am very impressed with her abilities.  And most important, she knows when to ask me for help.  I hope you all will feel as impressed with her as I do.

With the addition of Hanh, I was able to expand our hours even further.  We now open 7:30am each weekday, I stay late on Mondays until 6:30, Hanh stays until 8pm on Tuesdays, and Misty Tax, NP until 8pm on Wednesdays.  Hopefully everyone can find a convenient time during those hours.  Hanh is working for me full time, and therefore we are actively looking for new patients.  So if you know anyone looking for a new doctor, please keep us in mind!

Many of you know that I am currently subleasing, and have been looking for a place of my own again.  I’m happy to report that I’ve signed a lease for a space on the floor below where I am currently.  I hope to be in my new space in May, and I will send out a newsletter once we do move.  Fortunately, if you go to the wrong office, it won’t be far to get to the right one.

Picture of Hahn-Tien TranHanh-tien Tran joined our practice on February 1, 2009. She grew up in Boston, Massachusetts, received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology at the prestigious Tufts University, and her Master of Science in Physician Assistant from Seton Hall University/UMDNJ in 2003. Hanh moved to the Northern Virginia area after completion of school, and has been working in Family Practice since 2003. She most recently worked for Dr. Jean Drew in Fairfax, VA. She has a current Virginia Physician Assistant License and has a National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. Her professional memberships include the American Academy of Physician Assistants and Virginia Academy of Physician Assistants.

Hahn has a vast amount of experience in all areas of Family Practice and successfully completed core clinical rotations in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, OB/GYN, General Surgery, Pediatrics, Critical Care, Neurology, Geriatrics and Psychiatry.

Hanh lives in Fairfax with her beloved husband and two delightful daughters. She is fluent in both English and Vietnamese.

 FDA Diet Pill Warning

In December the FDA issued a warning about weight loss products that have unapproved, untested or dangerous ingredients.  In January the list was expanded to 69.  This just reinforces the fact that the weight loss industry is completely unregulated and uncontrolled, and that you can’t always trust what’s on the label.  And, as a corollary , just because it says “herbal” or “natural” does not mean it is safe.

About Dr. Jasmine Moghissi

Welcome to my family medical practice! We are delighted to be here in the Vienna/Fairfax area, which is where I live with my own family.

I treat people of all ages, and all conditions. My philosophy is to treat the whole person, and the whole family. As a family physician, I am trained to meet the health care needs of the entire family regardless of age, sex, or the nature of the illness. I am comfortable treating newborns, children, adults and the elderly. I perform routine physicals (including GYN exams), along with treating acute and chronic illnesses; however, I do not deliver babies.

In our practice, we treat all illnesses, but I do have some special interests and areas of expertise. I am an advocate of breastfeeding, and have assisted many moms and babies in becoming successful at it. I enjoy pediatrics and use my own experience as a mom to help my patients. I have extensive experience in women's health issues, and special interests in the prevention, treatment, and early diagnosis of diabetes and heart disease. I am honored that many specialists in the area routinely refer their patients to me for treatment of their medical and psychiatric problems. If you are looking for a partner in your family's quest for a healthy life, I would love to be your family doctor.
