Practice Overview

I am a board certified Family Physician in Fairfax, Virginia and practice family, aesthetic, menopause and ancestral medicine. I treat older children and adults, and deal with medical conditions, weight management, skin conditions and state of the art disease prevention. We prefer using lifestyle changes for treatment and prevention of disease if at all possible.  My goal is to provide high quality, medically proven care. Whether you are a diabetic, need a routine physical, information on how to prevent heart disease or just want smoother, wrinkle free skin, we will take your concerns seriously and give you an honest assessment of what can and should be done.

Our philosophy is to treat the whole person, and the whole family. As a family physician, I am trained to meet the health care needs of the entire family regardless of age, sex, or the nature of the illness. We are comfortable treating older children, adults and the elderly. We perform routine physicals (including GYN exams), along with treating acute and chronic illnesses. It is with a heavy heart that we are no longer accepting new infants and toddlers in our practice. We also no longer carry any vaccines. Please contact us if you have any questions.

Almost 20 years ago, I began practicing aesthetic medicine. I realize there are many options available locally, and have tried to distinguish myself by approaching the cosmetic field as I approach general medicine. I work to provide high quality, medically sound means to improve appearance without looking like something unnatural has been done.

Another passion of mine is health and wellness. I offer specialized metabolic testing and counseling for heart disease prevention, and weight loss counseling. A few years ago I also became a Certified Menopause Practitioner, so I could better address the issues of my (ahem) older female patients.  Recognizing that traditional medicine does not solve everyone's ills, I practice some functional medicine and consider myself an integrative medical practitioner  also.  I follow ancestral practices in my personal life and encourage my patients to do the same.

In early 2014 we joined together with other top practices in our area to form a new high performance physician group, called Privia Medical Group.   This was a significant opportunity to come together with other leading medical practices in the Washington DC metro area to improve the coordination and delivery of care for patients. By collaborating on initiatives such as quality management programs and shared technology, we are better able ensure our patients have seamless access to the best doctors in town.  Many of the leading practices in our community, primary care physicians and specialists, have joined Privia Medical Group.

With the health care climate the way it is today, many small practices are not able to survive.  Privia allows individual practices to continue to give individualized care to our patients, while giving us the infrastructure and support we need to survive.  Our collective vision is to be the preeminent medical group of top doctors focused on patient-centered care, not just in the Washington DC metro area, but in the entire country.  Privia has been growing rapidly, and is in fact the largest growing medical group in the US.

Our practice has grown beyond our ability to care for everyone who would like to be a patient. Wait times for appointments have become unreasonable, and felt our ability to give good care would suffer.  Therefore I accept very few new patients.  This is something we are not happy about, but we feel it not fair to our existing patients to add more, as they are already having to wait too long to see us.  If you feel you have an extenuating circumstance, feel free to call or email as we occasionally make exceptions.
